It seems, despite sterilising over 1000 animals per year over the last couple of years, not having a TNR program shows what happens, as we really had a kitten explosion all over the island.

We had so many complaints from the tourists about sick kittens, but we aren’t a rescue charity, and due to all our own rescues, have nowhere to keep them for recovery, so we are limited to what we can do.

Lassi was highlighted by many tourists for the number of cats around and 98 cats have been sterilised this year there, huge numbers from Makris Gialos, Lassi Hotel and Behind Sirtaki. We will return in the new year and sterilise the ones that were too young

We have also had a number of new people move to the island, that have caught the cats round their villas, as well as the residents and supporters who do this every time a new cat turns up, this makes such a difference to those areas, we just don’t have enough volunteers

On a good note, we had lots of adoptions, and the thought of these unwanted cats and dogs having the life every animal should have, certainly raises our spirits

24 male dogs + 8 male dogs on TNR LIXOURI = 32 male dogs

611 female cats + 53 female cats TNR LIXOURI = 664 female cats

261 male cats + 60 male cats TNR LIXOURI = 321 male cats

Giving a total of 1116 animals
